Tragic accident sparks outcry for justice and reform in Kargil

Kargil: A somber cloud hangs over the town of Kargil following a devastating incident that claimed the life of 16-year-old student, Basharat Ahmad.

Ahmad, a promising young soul, lost his life in a fatal accident on the Kargil TCP Road at Ando Colony earlier Friday morning.

Ahmad, the son of Mohd Farooq and a resident of Shamsha Kherboo, was en route to school with a friend when tragedy struck. The two were struck by a JCB, leaving Ahmad fatally injured. Despite frantic efforts to save him, Ahmad succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his companion suffered minor injuries.

Eyewitnesses recount a harrowing scene as the JCB fled the scene, leaving Ahmad in a pool of blood. Outraged by the incident and alleged delays in response by medical and police authorities, members of the community took to the streets in protest, demanding immediate action and accountability.

Former Sarpanch Pashkum Issa Ali and EC Zakir, along with other community leaders, responded swiftly to the distress calls. EC Zakir assured the public of contacting SP Kargil and DC Kargil, who have pledged to take strict action against the perpetrator and address any negligence by officials during the emergency.

As the community grapples with the loss of a bright young student, calls for accountability and reform echo through the streets. SP Kargil, along with Tehsildar Kargil, made efforts to pacify the protesters, but demands for justice and the immediate arrest of the culprit persist.

This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and improved emergency response protocols.

As Kargil mourns the untimely departure of Basharat Ahmad, the community stands united in their call for justice and measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
