LEH: The third edition of Eliezer Joldan Memorial Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament 2023-24 organised by the Physical Education Department, University of Ladakh in collaboration with Eliezer Joldan Memorial, College, Leh, held at EJM College, Leh concluded on April 16.

The winning team from the women’s category was EJM College, Leh, while the runners up trophy was bagged by CIBS Leh. In the men’s category, the winning trophy was bagged by EJM College, Leh, while the runner’s up trophy went to GDC Kargil.

Ten women’s teams and ten men’s teams from various degree colleges of Ladakh and higher educational institutions competed in the two day volleyball tournament. The participating institutions included EJM College, Leh, GDC Kargil, GDC Zanskar, GDC Nubra, GDC Khaltsi, GDC Drass, GDC Sankoo, University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, Kargil Campus, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies and Government Polytechnic College, Leh.

Additional SP, Leh, Regzin Sandup, guest of honour in his address appreciated the players in showcasing good sports conduct and discipline.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. S.K. Mehta, chief guest commended the efforts of the organising team on the successful completion of the inter-collegiate volleyball tournament.
The tournament was coordinated by the Director, Physical Education Department, EJM College, Leh, Lt. Dr. Ujwala Koche.

The closing ceremony began with a cultural performance by the students of EJM college, Leh and ended with a vote of thanks from Assistant Professor, Stanzin Dadul. The winners, participants and officials were warmly felicitated by the guests.

Special guests included the Director, Colleges, UoL, Professor Tashi Ldawa, Controller Examination, UoL, Prof. Deskyong Namgyal, Dean, Academic Affairs, UoL, Dr. Sonam Joldan, Principal, GDC Khaltsi, Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, Principal, EJM College, Leh, Dr Sameena Iqbal, Dean, Student Welfare, UoL, Dr Jigmet Dachen, daughter of late Eliezer Joldan, Martha Phuntsog and granddaughter-in-law of Late Eliezer Joldan, Rachel.
