Leh : Thiksay Monastery, along with the Nambardar and Youth President representing all villagers of Thiksay, has strongly condemned environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk’s recent remarks about His Eminence Thiksay Rinpoche.
The comments were made in a video uploaded by Wangchuk on his YouTube channel, where he allegedly accused the Rinpoche of aligning with a particular political ideology.
In a joint statement, the monastery and village representatives termed the allegations as deeply disrespectful and an unjust attempt to politicize a highly revered spiritual leader. They asserted that His Eminence Thiksay Rinpoche has always remained above politics and is widely respected for his spiritual leadership and contributions to society.
The statement further warned that any individual or political group trying to involve Rinpoche in political controversies in the future would face strong backlash from the local community. Reaffirming their full faith and trust in the Rinpoche, the villagers urged everyone to respect the sanctity and neutrality of religious figures.
They also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading misinformation or making baseless claims that could disrupt communal harmony and hurt religious sentiments.
