Leh, July 25: A three-day District Level Cascade Workshop aimed at strengthening Mathematics and Science education concluded at Paras Hall, Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, with educators emphasising innovative and inquiry-based teaching practices in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Organised by DIET Leh in collaboration with the Department of School Education, UT Ladakh, and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, under the iRISE initiative, the workshop brought together elementary and secondary school teachers from across Leh district.
The valedictory session was attended by Principal DIET Leh, S.D. Namgial, HOD DIET Leh Tsering Yangdol, resource persons from IISER Pune, master trainers, DIET faculty and participating teachers.
During the workshop, teachers received training in experiential learning, inquiry-based teaching, collaborative problem-solving and activity-oriented classroom practices to make Mathematics and Science education more engaging and effective. Participants also took part in interactive sessions, demonstrations, group discussions and practical activities.
The organisers said the knowledge gained during the programme will be shared with other teachers across the district, helping improve classroom learning for a larger number of students.
Officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the joint commitment of DIET Leh, the School Education Department and IISER Pune to empower teachers and promote scientific temper, curiosity and meaningful learning among students in Ladakh.
