SVEEP program in Kargil raises voter awareness ahead of elections at Boothlevel

Kargil: In a move to educate and increase voter participation, the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program was launched in Kargil.

Organized under the banner of Chunav Pathshala at the polling booths in Matayen Village, known as the Gateway to Ladakh, and Pandrass Village, identified with the lowest voter turnout during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the initiative aimed to invigorate civic participation.

Led by the SVEEP team in Kargil, the program focused on highlighting the significance of voting and urged citizens to exercise their democratic rights on May 20th, 2024.

District Modal Officer SVEEP, Ghulam Rasool Lal, underscored the importance of the event, emphasizing its goal to enlighten the public about the array of facilities provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the benefit of voters.

Lal elaborated on various ECI initiatives and applications aimed at enhancing voter convenience and accessibility. Through interactive sessions and informational materials, attendees were apprised of the resources available to them, empowering them to participate actively in the electoral process.

The event at Matayen Village and Pandrass served as a platform for dialogue, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and encouraging citizens to play an active role in shaping their democracy.

With voter awareness at the forefront, Kargil’s SVEEP initiative stands as a testament to the commitment towards fostering a vibrant and inclusive electoral culture.
