Leh: A delegation from the Stod area of Zanskar, led by Mandal President Thukjey Lobzang, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on Wednesday.

Secretary, PWD/PHE, Michael D’Souza, IAS; Chief Engineer, PWD, Abdul Mutalib, along with Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer, PWD, were present in the meeting.

Thukjey raised several issues related to the Stod area, including the need for development of an artificial lake and Stod River Front development; the need for a Mini Hospital for Stod area; the need to establish the sub-division headquarter at an appropriate location; the need to construct irrigation canal from Padham Nullah to Akshow; construction of multipurpose hall at Abran; the need to construct circular road from Skagam to Nunnery Monastery and also in Phey via Gonyok Mohalla, construction of irrigation canal from Lamozayza Tokpo to Tankar Toktha and from Zongkhul Nallah to Ating; construction of circular road to Rantaksha via Gonpa Rantaksha; construction of zamindari khul from Shagar Nallah to Khul Thang and from Lachen Nallah to Bakartsey Thang; construction of link road to Kuwoteth Gonpa Remalla/Manda and Gongdey Mohalla Chibra, etc.

Secretary, PWD/PHE, Michael D’Souza, informed the LG that these new project works need to be assessed.

He also informed that some road projects would be included under CRIF/PMGSY. The LG asked the Secretary of the PWD/PHE Department to prioritise project works, keeping the merit of the project and the availability of the budget in mind.

He assured the delegates that appropriate steps would be taken for the welfare of the public.
