Kargil, Feb 2026:
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC) Kargil delivered an impressive performance at the All India Inter SAI Taekwondo Championship held in Patna, Bihar, from February 2 to 4, bringing laurels to Ladakh at the national level.
A contingent of 17 athletes, including nine girls and eight boys, represented STC Kargil in the championship. The team was accompanied by Coach Mohd Ali, Coach Parveen Kumar, and Lady Warden Bilquess Banoo. The athletes displayed exceptional skill, discipline, and sportsmanship during the competition.
The team secured the Best Participation Trophy and won a total of 10 medals, including one gold, four silver, and five bronze medals, reflecting the centre’s growing excellence in Taekwondo.
Deasal Angmo clinched the gold medal, while silver medals were won by Zahara Batool, Shabnam Zahara, Parveen Nissa, and Fatima Shanaz. Bronze medals were secured by Zahara Batool, Samana Batool, Fareena Batool, and Kacho Mumtaz Ali.
Incharge SAI Kargil, Ghulam Mustafa, congratulated the athletes for their remarkable achievement and appreciated the dedicated efforts of Coaches Mohd Ali and Parveen Kumar for their mentorship. He also expressed gratitude to SAI Headquarters for its continued support, which has played a significant role in nurturing young sports talent and strengthening the training ecosystem in the region.
The achievement highlights the hard work, commitment, and structured training of the athletes and marks another proud milestone for STC Kargil, showcasing the steady rise of Taekwondo and competitive sports in Ladakh at the national level.
