State, ULB Level Nodal officers appointed for smooth implementation of ‘NAMASTE’ scheme

Leh: The Government of Ladakh, General Administration Department (GAD) on Friday appointed State and ULB Level Nodal Officers for National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme in the UT.

According to an official order, “It is hereby ordered that the following officer shall be the Nodal officer for coordinating across departments, UT/District Level Committees and the concerned Ministry in Government of India for Smooth implementation of “NAMASTE” Scheme in UT of Ladakh.”

Dr Zahida Bano Director, Urban Local Bodies (DULB) Housing and Urban Development Department was appointed as State Level Nodal Officer.

Stanzin Rabgais Executive Officer, Municipal Committee was appointed as ULB Level Nodal Officer for Leh. Shafaqat Ali Khan Executive Officer, Municipal Committee was appointed as ULB Level Nodal Officer for Kargil.

NAMASTE Scheme aims to eliminate hazardous cleaning, stop deaths of sewer and septic tank workers and ensure their safety and dignity. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) jointly formulated a Scheme namely National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE).
