
Stanzin Sangdup, Lama Tsering Tondup led twin delegations call on LG Mishra
Leh: A delegation comprising members of Lambardar Association Zanskar led by its President, Stanzin Sangdup, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Tuesday.
Sangdup raised several issues related to Zanskar sub-division, viz. the need to pay compensation to the farmers for their lands acquired for the construction of the Kargil-Zanskar National Highway; creation/opening of Labour Sub-Centre Office at Padum; the need to repair/reconstruct roads at Shamuling-Tunri-Tahan, Salapi Gyapak, Abran Kongma-Abran Yokma roads under PMGSY scheme; the need to intervene in the non-functioning of the Social Welfare Department in Zanskar; construction of Sarai at Padum for the people of Stod Sham and Lungnak; the need for the appointment of Bhoti and physical education teachers (PETs) at the government schools in Zanskar; provide forest land for community use; enhance/increase honorariums of lambardars/chowkidars, etc.
The LG assured to look into the matter.
A delegation comprising members of Rangdum Gonpa Cultural & Welfare Society led by Manager/Kharpo, Lama Tsering Tondup called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Lama Tsering informed about the bifurcation of Ladakh into two districts-Leh and Kargil- in 1979 and the disposition of Rangdum with Taisuru block of Sankoo sub-division in Kargil.
He also informed about repeated requests made to include Rangdum in the Zanskar sub-division as it shares its roots and cultural identity with the people of Zanskar. The LG assured to look into the matter.
