Solid waste management awareness-cum- cleanliness drive held at Barsoo

Kargil: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD) Kargil, Tuesday organized solid waste management awareness-cum-cleanliness drive at Barsoo Panchayat.

District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Kargil, Padma Angmo, BDC Barsoo, Hajira Bano, BDO Barsoo, Asgar Ali, Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals participated in the drive.

Addressing to the gathering, DPO Kargil sensitised regarding segregation process of solid and liquid waste at primary level. She said that the dry and liquid waste should be segregated at primary level so that the segregation at secondary level becomes easy.

She talked about the objective of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin and urged the villagers to actively participate in the awareness-cum-cleanliness drive so that the targets would be achieved by end of 2023.

A cleanliness drive also held in Barsoo Panchayat which aimed to sensitize and clean the village so that environmental sustainability would be achieved. The villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.

BDO Barsoo Asgar Ali in his speech spoke about the importance of cleanliness drive. He said cleanliness drive help to maintain environmental sustainability of whole area.

He hoped for cooperation from people of Barsoo to make the cleanliness drives successful.
BDC Barsoo also talked about the importance solid waste management awareness-cum-cleanliness drive. She said the cleanliness drives should be conducted on large scale.

BDC thanked the UT Administration for initiation of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin in Barsoo Block.

Earlier, a meeting was held in which it was decided that a cleanliness drive will be conducted and dustbins shall be distributed in Bartoo and Tiket villages of Barsoo Block on May 08, 2023, and door-to-door collection of waste will be started.
