Social Welfare Dept organises Panel Discussion on ‘Building Bridges: Enabling Access for All’

LEH: The Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh organised a panel discussion themed ‘Building Bridges: Enabling Access for All’ in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today in Leh on Sunday.

The event, aims to shed light on the significance of accessibility and inclusivity for individuals with disabilities in the unique landscape of Ladakh.

The key stakeholders, experts, and community representatives deliberate on strategies for enhancing accessibility and breaking down barriers faced by persons with disabilities.

Director, S&TW Department, Tashi Dolma emphasized on awareness of inclusivity in terms of accessibility among executing agencies and HoD in UT Ladakh.

She added that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to create a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can fully participate and thrive.

Further, added that this panel discussion serves as a platform for collaborative efforts to enhance accessibility and empower persons with disabilities in the unique context of UT
Ladakh.

Similarly, District Social Welfare Officer, Leh, Nilza Angmo presented the vote of thanks and added that the issues discussed will be put before the concerned authority. It was also added that the Department of Social and Tribal Welfare in UT Ladakh is dedicated to fostering social development and empowerment among diverse communities, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility for all.

The event was grace by Director, Youth Services& Sports UT Ladakh; Director, Tourism, UT Ladakh; Special Secretary, H& FW Department; Officer of H&UDD, Education; Department, Executive Engineer, PWD , Leh; President, PAGIR and Director, Himalayan Helping Hand.

Besides, stakeholders from REWA, Chamtse, Munsel, Govt High Sec school, Chushot Yokma and individuals interested in promoting inclusivity attended the event.
