Kargil, February 17, 2026: The fourth day of the five-day Workshop-cum-Training Programme on “Product Certification and Capacity Building for Women SHG Members” under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative saw vibrant participation from women entrepreneurs and MSME representatives in Kargil.
The programme, organised by the Industries & Commerce Department, UT Ladakh in collaboration with the Food Safety Department, Kargil, is being held at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kargil.
Addressing the participants, Industrial Promotion Officer, DIC Kargil, Lobzang Lungtok stressed the importance of certification, quality control, branding, and market preparedness in strengthening local enterprises. He highlighted that the RAMP initiative aims to formalize MSMEs, enhance competitiveness, and ensure long-term sustainability of grassroots ventures. He also elaborated on institutional support mechanisms and financial assistance available under the scheme.
Food Safety Officer, HQ Kargil, Shanaz Zahra conducted an in-depth session on food safety compliance and the mandatory registration process under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). A step-by-step live demonstration of the FSSAI registration process was presented, helping participants understand documentation and procedural requirements.
The workshop further focused on effective branding, standardized labeling, and modern packaging practices to improve market positioning. Participants were introduced to innovative business models adopted by emerging entrepreneurs from Ladakh, inspiring SHG members to expand their ventures.
Around 45 SHG members and MSME representatives attended the session.
As part of hands-on learning, participants visited M/s The Zgopa Enterprises, where they observed the production of potato-based products such as Bhujia, Moong Dal, Khata Meetha, and Potato Chips. The exposure visit included technical demonstrations on processing and packaging, followed by an interactive discussion on practical challenges related to product development and quality standards.
