LEH, May 4: A delegation from Kukshow and Pacharik villages of the newly constituted Sham district on Monday called on former Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, seeking continued support for development and administrative strengthening in the region.
The delegation, comprising representatives of Junu Thundel Tsogspa, Kukshow Culture Preservation Society and Pacharik Tsogspa, also included Dr. Kunzes Dolma, Ambassador for Women in Geothermal (India) and a member of the High Power Committee.
During the interaction, the members expressed gratitude to Namgyal for his consistent advocacy for the creation of Sham district, recalling his efforts in raising the demand in Parliament. They credited his tenure in key roles—including as Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, BJP Ladakh president and MP—for facilitating development initiatives such as mobile connectivity, road infrastructure and implementation of welfare programmes in remote areas like Kukshow and Pacharik.
Welcoming the inclusion of Kukshow–Pacharik in the newly carved Sham district, the delegation said the move would improve administrative access and accelerate development. They noted that the region has witnessed visible progress in recent years.
The representatives urged Namgyal to continue guiding efforts to strengthen governance in the new district, with a focus on inclusive growth and improved service delivery in far-flung areas.
The delegation also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for fulfilling the long-pending demand for the creation of the district. They further acknowledged the role of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena in advancing administrative processes and public welfare initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to ensure balanced development and effective governance in the newly formed Sham district.
