Leh: In a powerful display of patriotism and empowerment, the “Shakti Yatra: Ride with Pride 2.0” biker rally was warmly received by Mera Yuva Bharat Leh in collaboration with the University of Ladakh and its NSS Wing at the Leh campus on Monday. The rally is part of nationwide events commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed every year on July 26, in honour of the brave soldiers of the Kargil War and Operation Sindhuraksha.

Flagged off from Jammu on July 18, the rally is now in its third successful edition. It has passed through Udhampur, Srinagar, and Kargil, and will conclude at Hanle in Ladakh. The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

This year’s edition, organised by the Shakti Udgosh Foundation, features 26 bikers — 20 women and 6 men — hailing from various parts of the country. The rally aims to celebrate the valour of Indian soldiers, while promoting women empowerment, national unity, and youth participation in nation-building.

The riders were greeted with a traditional Ladakhi welcome — khataks (ceremonial scarves) and folk music — creating a spirited and emotional atmosphere at the University. The event began with a tribute from Tajamul Ara, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat Leh, who paid homage to the Kargil heroes and saluted the determination of the riders, especially the women leading this inspiring journey.

Dr. Sonam Joldan, Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Ladakh, attended as Chief Guest and praised the participants for their commitment to national pride and solidarity. He extended his best wishes to the riders for the final leg of their journey.

Several bikers shared personal stories of transformation and courage, reflecting on how the rally evolved from just two participants in its early days to a strong contingent of 26 riders today, unified by patriotism and purpose.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem, bringing the event to a proud and emotional close.
