Leh: Councillor, Mini-Baroo, Ghulam Mehdi, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), Thursday at Raj Niwas.

Mehdi raised several issues about his constituency, viz. the upgradation of Government High School Minjee to Govt Higher Secondary School; the need to construct subways near schools affected by the construction of the Kargil-Zanskar National Highway for the safety of students; the need to establish a Medical Sub-Centre at Gramthang along with the appointment of doctors for NTPHC Baroo and NTPHC Minjee; the remodelling and repairing of the existing irrigation canals at Titichumik Gongyur and Baroo Tsok-khul, etc.

The LG assured to look into the matter.

Bilal Ahmed, a resident of Hulail Drass, called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Bilal informed HLG that his late father, Shri Ghulam Rasool, who was serving at PDD Ladakh, passed away in 2021.

He also informed that he is the sole bread earner of the family after the death of his father. He further informed LG that he is unemployed and is currently working as a labourer.

Bilal requested LG’s intervention in clearing his requisition for a job on compassionate grounds under SRO 43.

The LG assured to look into the matter and stated that priority will be given based on the case.
Mohd Hasnain, a resident of Faroona in Kargil, called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar was present in the meeting.

Hasnain informed that he is currently working as a driver on a meagre salary. He also informed about his plan to construct a house in the village. He requested housing assistance under the Bosmeti Goyogs scheme.

The LG instructed Ravinder Kumar, IAS, to check if Hasnain’s name has been included in the list of beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.
