Leh: A delegation from TSG block of Kargil led by Vice-President, BJP Unit TSG Block, Shri Ahmad Hussain, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.
Shri Ahmad raised several issues related to Faroona & Saliskote villages, viz. the need for the construction of a tunnel for the diversion of Drass River near Dandal village for generating electricity for lighting purposes, for irrigating agricultural lands in the summer and for executing various other hydroelectric power projects in Kargil district; the need for construction of road from Dandal to Faroona Saliskote to reduce travelling time, etc.
Shri Ahmad also raised other issues, including the upgradation of Govt High School at Saliskote to Govt Higher Secondary School; filling up the vacant posts of the medical staff at New-Type Primary Health Centre (NT-PHC) at Saliskote; the need to establish a Zonal Education Office with its headquarter at Saliskote; the need for a bi-directional tunnel across Lasar La connecting Dandal to Saliskote; the need for upgradation of NT-PHC at Trespone to Primary Health Centre (PHC); the need for establishing a new Police Station or relocate the earlier Police Station at Trespone, etc.
LG assured to look into the matter.
A delegation comprising the Executive Director, Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG), Eshey Tondup and President, Women Alliance of Ladakh, Tsering Chondol, called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Shri Eshey and Smt Chondol requested HLG to take stringent action against the accused involved in the rape and attempted murder of a minor girl in Ladakh. They also requested the need to establish a Rehabilitation Centre in Ladakh and the need to improve the frequency of public transport on fixed routes in Leh.
LG informed the delegates that stringent action would be taken against the accused. He also informed about instructions being issued to Ladakh Police to sensitise and raise awareness among parents of juveniles involved in violent conduct along with making the Observation Homes fully functional. He further informed that strict action will be taken against drug peddlers to deter them from indulging in such unlawful practices.
LG informed the delegates about the instructions passed by him to the Transport Department to prepare a schedule and SOP to operate public transport on fixed routes on a regular basis.
