Several delegations call on LG Mishra, apprise several issues

Leh: A delegation comprising gobas of Upper/Lower Leh led by Lower Leh Councillor, Shri Tsering Namgyal, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.

Advisor to LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS, were present in the meeting.

Tsering Namgyal informed the LG that inhabitants of various colonies in and adjacent areas of Leh town have been living in those areas for the past five to six decades but a proper rationalisation of the settlement areas has not been done yet.

He also informed that the land in Housing Colony has been provided on lease for 40 years, which ended in 2019 but the lease has still not been renewed. He further informed that there are around 23 localities in Leh and adjacent areas of Leh town where people are inhabiting but they don’t have any proper document to show about the possession of the land in their names. Namgyal requested the LG to provide ownership of land to the owners.

The LG stated that he would look into the issue after taking legal advice from the concerned officials.
A delegation from Aba Sonam Wangyal Memorial Society comprising of Sh. C Punsog, IAS (Retd), Gyal P. Wangyal, Former CEC of LAHDC Leh, PT Kunzang and Lobzang called on the HLG at Raj Niwas.

Advisor to LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Secretary, Sports, Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar, IAS were present during the meeting.

The delegation apprised the LG about the contribution of Aba Sonam Wangyal, who was a former Minister from Ladakh, for the welfare of the Ladakhi Society and also informed about LAHDC Leh’s plan to celebrate the 25th death anniversary of Aba Sonam Wangyal on a grand scale.

Kunzang apprised the LG that LAHDC, Leh has passed a resolution to name the open stadium after Aba Sonam Wangyal and requested the LG to formally carry out the necessary prerequisites.

The LG suggested to the delegates that the naming process can be carried out post completion of the entire stadium and also spoke of the need to put it in public domain for feedback so that no objections are raised from any concerned sector of the society.

The LG also directed Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs, Ravinder Kumar, IAS to expedite the completion of the remaining work of the stadium & allied infrastructure.
