
Several delegations call on LG Mishra, apprise issues
LEH: Athletics coach, Tsering Stobgais, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas. Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Kumar was present in the meeting.
Stobgais informed about the talented sportspersons from Ladakh, especially in the field of athletics, and his efforts to encourage young sportspersons in Ladakh as an athletics coach. He highlighted the issue of the lack of sports quotas for athletes in Ladakh during the recruitment drives. He also requested for the need to promote sports activities in Ladakh.
The LG emphasised the need to frame a uniform sports policy for medal winners at the national and international levels. He also assured to look into the matter.
A delegation comprising Anganwadi Workers and Helpers from Ladakh led by Tsering Dolkar called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Advisor, Umang Narula and OSD to Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Shri Stanzin Shakya were present in the meeting.
Tsering informed about the roles played by them in implementing various schemes and policies of the government at the grassroots level. She also informed about the monthly salary of Rs 5800 paid to Anganwari Workers and Rs 2250 to Anganwari Helpers despite working in challenging conditions. She requested for the enhancement of their honorarium. Smt Tsering further informed about the absence of promotion based on their educational qualification and seniority list.
Shakya informed LG about the enhancement of the honorarium in April last year.
A delegation comprising outsourced Junior Engineers engaged under PMGSY led by Nawang Dorjey and Desal Angmo, called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Nawang and Desal informed LG about the engagement of around 200 outsourced junior engineers in July 2020.
They also informed about inadequate salaries being paid to them and the need for the enhancement of their salaries. They also requested for the payment of their salaries on time.
Mohd Abbas Wazir from Kargil called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Wazir informed LG about his engagement in Border Roads Organisation’s Project Vijayak as mason. He also informed that he is provided with the salary of a labourer despite being engaged as a mason.
He also requested LG for his intervention for his engagement as work supervisor in Project Vijayak. The LG assured all the delegations that he will look into their matters.
