Leh: With the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs scheduled to visit Ladakh by road from September 5 to 7, Secretary Rural Development and Nodal Officer UT Ladakh, Shashanka Ala, chaired a high-level meeting to review and finalise preparations.
She stressed close coordination between the Army in Kargil and Ladakh Police to maintain the highest level of security during the delegation’s stay.
The meeting focused on comprehensive arrangements for the Committee’s travel, stay, security, and protocol. As the delegation will be arriving by road, the Secretary emphasised meticulous planning to ensure comfort and convenience from the early hours of their journey.
Resting points along the route, including locations highlighting Ladakh’s monasteries and cultural heritage, will be readied for the visit.
Special instructions were issued to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, to ensure a smooth welcome and robust security during the Committee’s one-day halt in Kargil. From Sonamarg onwards, Ladakh will take full responsibility for the delegation’s safety and hospitality.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will prepare a detailed schedule within their jurisdiction to ensure seamless arrangements.
Hospitality services, including hotels and identified visit sites, were directed to maintain the highest service standards.
The Secretary also reviewed logistical and protocol requirements with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of Leh and Kargil to ensure there are no shortcomings.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from civil administration, police, Army, ITBP, and various UT departments, reflecting a whole-of-government approach to the upcoming high-profile visit.
