Leh, April 20: Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) Fulzele Piyush Nirakar on Monday reviewed security and logistical preparations for the upcoming Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition in Leh, scheduled from May 1 to May 15.
The officer conducted a detailed inspection of key venues, including Jevetsal and the Dharma Centre, assessing arrangements to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the event, which is expected to draw large numbers of devotees, monks, nuns, and visitors from across India and abroad.
During the visit, Nirakar reviewed crowd management strategies, including designated visiting hours, entry and exit protocols, and traffic regulation plans around the venues. He also examined gate management systems and the establishment of control rooms for real-time monitoring and coordination.
Special focus was laid on maintaining the sanctity and preservation of the sacred relics, with inspections covering temperature control, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of the premises. Security deployment, venue arrangements, and facilities for devotees were also reviewed.
Emphasising seamless movement and safety, the SSP directed officials to ensure strict coordination among all departments and fine-tune arrangements well in advance to avoid any lapses during the exposition.
He was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, along with officers from the police and other line departments.
