Secretary Ravindar Kumar takes stock of development work in Zanskar

Kargil: Secretary PDD, Agricultural, Animal, Sheep and Youth Services and Sports UT Ladakh Ravindar Kumar today chaired a meeting of officers of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Power and Youth Service and Sports at TRC Padum, Zanskar.

During the meeting, the secretary stressed the Agriculture Department to submit the requirements of labours and their wages for engaging to cultivate the farm and polycarbonate green houses.

He instructed the Sheep Husbandry Department to submit the projects for establishment of Pashmina goat farm and other requirement.

The livestock development officer informed that there is scope to open horse riding school in the sub division, as the horse of the region is famous and Equine Breeding farm is already established in Zanskar.

While reviewing the progress of the Youth Services and Sports Department, the secretary directed to complete all the remaining works of the Ice Hockey Rink and Sport Stadium and also construct public convenience around the stadium before Zanskar winter festival.

The meeting was also attended by SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, OSD to Secretary Dr Stanzin Thekchos and Dr Tara Chand.

Earlier, the secretary also met Councilor Cha Constituency Stanzin Lakpa, General Secretary BJP Zanskar Tsering Angdus at TRC Padum and raised the various issues regarding transmission line, planning of winter festival and need of construction of changing room and public convenience at the program venue.

The secretary gave a patient hearing to the demands and assured to resolve the issues. He added that a UT-level meeting will be called for planning of the winter festival very shortly.

Secretary Power Development Department, Agricultural, Animal, Sheep and Youth Services and Sports UT Ladakh, Ravindar Kumar on Sunday visited Zanskar.

He was accompanied by OSD to Secretary Dr Stanzin Thekchos and Dr Tara Chand. A warm reception was presented to the visitors by officers of the sub-division at village Abran.

Enroute to Padum, public delegations met the Secretary at village Abran, Skyagam and Phay and submitted their application regarding the grievances faced by the villagers.

The secretary assured the delegations that their demands will be fulfilled in short period which are related to his department.

He also visited construction site of Zongkhul Hydro Power Project, Power Grid Station of 220/33KV 50MVA GIS Substation Padum Zanskar under PMDP Scheme 15.

The secretary also visited the Agriculture Farm Stara KVK Gyapak and appreciated for the work for growing such vegetables and fruits in Zanskar.

During the inspection of Ice Hockey Rink at Munski Chumik, he directed the concerned department to prepare DPR for the construction of changing rooms, sitting and bathrooms, and complete the same work before Zanskar Winter Sports and Youth Festival 2022-23.
