Sarpanch, Panch Khemi; Ladakh Taxi Union, BJP Mandal Singge-Lalok delegations call on LG

Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) met Sarpanch, Panchayat Halqa Khemi, Jigmet Geldan and Panch, Dongsa-Nungsted, Sangay Dorjey, at Raj Niwas Tuesday.

Jigmet apprised the LG of various issues faced by the people in his constituency and requested for the construction of river channels on the Siachen River to protect the agricultural lands, the need for a road on the Khemi nullah under Central Road Fund (CRF); the need for blacktopping of the Kobet-Gonbo Road; upgradation of the bridge on Henachey and Nungsted; the need for opening of a Medical Aid Centre at Dongsa-Nungsted and the upgradation of Govt Middle School at Tongsted to Govt High School.

A delegation from Ladakh Taxi Operator Cooperative Limited led by its Chairman, Shri Thinles Namgyal, met the LG at Raj Niwas.   

 

Thinles informed the LG that the people of Ladakh are mostly dependent on tourism activities for their livelihood. He also informed that the Taxi Operator Cooperative Limited has around 4,000 members in Leh.

He requested for the LG’s intervention in opening new routes for taxis in Galwan Valley, Martsemik La Pass, Demchok Hot Spring and Batalik to open new sources of livelihood for the people residing in those areas.

A delegation from BJP Mandal Singge-Lalok led by BJP State Executive, Tashi Dorjai, met the LG at Raj Niwas.

 Tashi requested for the LG’s intervention in the installation of a big national flag at Nyeraks; delimitation of Panchayat Halqa Lingshed to expedite development works; construction of a rafting point at Sangs-Tha to promote adventure sports activities; the need to lay tiles on the footpath in Nyeraks village; the need to repair solar power plant house roof and the need for installation of solar street lights in Nyeraks village. He also requested to release fund for the completion of the Khaltse-Batalik road. 

He further raised demands related to Lingshed village, including allocation of funds for the construction of a museum in the village; provide a 120 kVA generator set to provide uninterrupted power supply; the need to install 4G towers in the village for telecommunication connectivity and the need for blacktopping of the road from Youlchung to Lingshed via Gongma-Skyumpata.

The LG assured all the delegations and other persons that he will look into the matter.
