LEH: During the 20th United Nations Day of Vesak (UNDV) Celebrations in Vietnam, Bhikkhu Sanghasena had the great honour and joy of meeting and spending time with one of the most respected contemporary Theravāda Buddhist masters, Venerable Dr. Bhikkhu Bodhi—who was also the keynote speaker for UNDV 2025.
The meeting was a deeply meaningful occasion for Bhikkhu Sanghasena, who took the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude to Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi for his generous and longstanding support for the Mahabodhi Residential School in Ladakh.
Over the years, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi has played a valuable role in supporting this unique educational initiative that serves underprivileged children from remote areas of the Himalayan region.
During the interaction, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi warmly appreciated Bhikkhu Sanghasena’s multifaceted humanitarian, spiritual, and social service work through the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC).
He expressed his admiration for Bhikkhu Sanghasena’s tireless efforts in uplifting communities through education, healthcare, interfaith harmony, and spiritual training.
Although Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi shared that due to his age he may not be able to visit Ladakh personally, he assured his ongoing blessings and support for Bhikkhu Sanghasena’s mission and the noble work being carried out in the Himalayas for the welfare of both the Sangha and society.
The meeting between them symbolized the spirit of unity, compassion, and mutual respect that defines the global Buddhist community—especially in these challenging times for humanity.
