LEH: Ven Sanghasena, Nalanda leaders and participants of the Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) visited Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom, Selangor on 19 November.

They were warmly hosted by its abbess, Ven. Jue Cheng and her team, the leaders and youths learned from each other through a fruitful exchange.

In their discussions, Ven. Sanghasena shared heartfelt stories of his experiences working with the late Ven. Master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan whom he met many years ago. The group rejoiced over the updates of Ven. Jue Cheng on the efforts of Fo Guang Shan to touch the hearts of many people in India and Ladakh.

The heart of this meeting was the united missionary goal for the availing of good teachers, integral leaders and platforms for Buddhists to learn and embed Dhamma in their lives for the betterment of many people.

“We extend our appreciation to Ven. Jue Cheng and everyone at Fo Guang Shan for their kind hospitality and wish them every success in their compassionate efforts,” he stated.

Meanwhile, on 15 November, Nalanda members and devotees gathered for an opportunity to learn from Ven. Sanghasena, Founder and President of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre in Ladakh.

Leading them in a reflection on the rarity to gain birth as a human being and to hear the Sublime Dhamma (Dhammapada verse 182), Ven. Sanghasena shared that they are now in a very conducive time of mankind for spiritual growth.

“This is not just because we are born with a mind which can be developed, but also because we have access to so many Dhamma teachings by both monastic and lay teachers all across the world,” he said.

Ven. Sanghasena reminded them that being born human is made even more precious when we take the opportunity and conditions to learn, study and realise the Buddha’s Teachings. Let us heed his words, and endeavour to make use of this lifetime to cultivate ourselves towards Enlightenment.
