Sainik Byathang Clinch Modern Title at LOA Archery Meet

Kargil, February 19, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, attended the District-Level Archery Tournament 2026 organised by the Ladakh Olympic Association (LOA), Kargil at Khri Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Byamathang.
Zonal Physical Education Officers, President LOA-Kargil Mehraj Chirag and other officials were also present on the occasion. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation with 13 teams competing in the Modern Archery category and 30 teams in Traditional Archery.
In the Modern Archery final, Sainik Byathang (Shiliktchey) edged past 64 United Archer Tambis by 64–62 in a thrilling four-round contest. In another closely fought match, T2 Archer Blue Tingdo defeated Ten Spartan Brako by 29–26.
Addressing the gathering, the ADC appreciated the players for exhibiting true sportsmanship and lauded the organisers for successfully hosting the tournament, providing a vital platform for young talent. He assured continued support from the district administration to promote sports in Kargil.
Kacho encouraged participants to aim for national and international representation and congratulated the winners and runners-up for their commendable performances. Highlighting the role of sports in combating the drug menace, he stated that sports serve as an effective means to channelise youth energy positively. He urged students to actively engage in sports at school and college levels to stay away from drug abuse and other unlawful activities.
The event concluded with distribution of trophies to winners and runners-up in both Modern and Traditional Archery categories. Awards for Man of the Match and Man of the Series were also presented along with cash rewards to deserving players.
