Leh, February 19: The five-day workshop-cum-training on “Product Certification and Training for Women SHG Members” under the RAMP Programme concluded successfully at the Conference Hall of District Industries Centre (DIC), Leh. The programme was organised by the Industries & Commerce Department, UT Ladakh in collaboration with the Food Safety Department and NRLM Ladakh.
Around 40 SHG members and MSME representatives from tourism, food processing, handicraft and handloom sectors participated in the capacity-building initiative.
Sh. Thinley Nurbu, Block Investigator, DIC Leh, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the PMEGP and PMFME schemes. In the first half of the session, participants were taken on a field visit to the Centre of Excellence (CoE), Nimo, established by the Horticulture Department in collaboration with DIHAR. Sh. Gyalson from M/s Nubra Food Processing Unit explained the functioning of machinery and processing techniques of seabuckthorn, apricot and tomato at the CoE.
During the second half, officials from the State Project Implementation Unit, RAMP Ladakh, elaborated on the scheme’s objectives and implementation framework. Sh. Tamchos Gurmet from the Food Safety Department delivered a detailed session on FSSAI registration and food safety compliance, followed by a live demonstration of the online registration process.
Participants were also sensitised on the importance of branding, labelling and packaging for value addition and better market realisation. Ms. Fariha Fatima from EDII Ladakh shared innovative approaches and success stories of young entrepreneurs from Ladakh to motivate SHG members.
The workshop concluded with remarks by Sh. Mohd. Ashraf Bhatt, JKAS, Director, Industries and Commerce Department, who highlighted that such initiatives under the RAMP Programme aim to enhance competitiveness and formalisation of local enterprises in Ladakh.
He also interacted with entrepreneurs including Tsewang Namgyal, Founder Rutsal Organics Leh, and Ms. Kaneez Fatima from SHG Kargil. Participants expressed gratitude to the Director I&C and General Managers of DIC Leh and Kargil for organising intensive workshops for MSMEs.
On-the-spot UDYAM registration was also facilitated during the event, marking another significant step towards strengthening women-led enterprises and promoting quality compliance among MSMEs in UT Ladakh.
