Khaltse, December 21: The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme was successfully conducted at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Khaltse, ensuring protection of children against poliomyelitis across the subdivision.
The immunization drive was inaugurated by Incharge Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khaltse, Asgar Ali, along with Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmad, and Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Spalchen Gonbo. The programme was formally launched with the administration of polio drops to a one-month-old child, Stanzin Khasdup.
On the occasion, the officials also flagged off mobile vaccination teams to ensure door-to-door coverage and prevent any child from being left out.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shamim Ahmad said that 272 personnel were deployed for the campaign, with 68 polio booths, 12 supervisors, and two mobile teams operating across the subdivision. A total of 980 children in the 0–5 age group were successfully administered anti-polio drops.
Doctors, ASHA workers, and paramedical staff of CHC Khaltse played an active role in the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
