Leh: In a major step toward improving eye health among children, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed today to roll out Project “Odzer”, an initiative aimed at providing free and high-quality spectacles to all school students across Leh district.
The project is a collaboration between LAHDC Leh, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust (Mumbai), and ONESIGHT Essilor Luxottica Foundation (Mumbai).
Under the project, all students aged up to 18 years enrolled in government and private schools will be screened for refractive errors. Those in need will receive spectacles completely free of cost.
The MoU was signed by LAHDC Leh Chairman Tashi Gyalson and Mahabodhi Founder-President Bhikkhu Sanghasena. The event was attended by Director Health Services Tashi Thinles, CMO Dr. Dolma Chuskit, and senior doctors from the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation.
Project Odzer is expected to significantly enhance learning conditions by addressing vision problems early, especially in rural and high-altitude schools where access to eye care is limited.
