Principal Secretary Khirwar reviews Sewerage System, Sewerage Treatment Plan for Kargil

Leh: Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar chaired a meeting to discuss the nitty-gritties of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the comprehensive sewerage system and Sewerage Treatment Plan (STP) for Kargil district being prepared by executing agency Ecofirst Services Limited, in the presence of officials of the Project Monitoring Unit – PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited.

Discussions were held on revising the report as per the revised population data and additional areas incorporated in the project, identified as newly populated.

The Principal Secretary also discussed the means and methods to incorporate the existing sewerage systems of individual households with the main sewerage line, leading to the STP, and directed the PMU to explore all possible options to get it done in the most efficient and effective manner.

The implementing agency also apprised the chair of the comments received from IIT on the feasibility of the DPR and informed that the suggested changes have been duly incorporated.

Deliberations were also held on developing STP for Kurbathang, which is fast becoming a growing area in the Kargil district.
