LEH: A captivating poetry recitation event ‘Humour in Pathos’ was held at the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO) in Leh, drawing an esteemed gathering of literary enthusiasts and cultural figures.
The event’s highlight was a poignant reading by Pramod Jain, IAS (Retd.), a poet and chairman of New Districts Committee of UT Ladakh on May 24.
Jain shared selected poems and verses from his evocative book, “Lockdown and Other Poems.” This collection, born during the global pandemic, resonated deeply with attendees as it explored the profound mental agony, isolation, and fear experienced worldwide during that challenging period.
In an exciting announcement, Jain revealed his plans for a forthcoming book, a collection of poems dedicated solely to the unique beauty and spirit of Ladakh.
The event was graced by the presence of several notable personalities, including Tsewang Paljor, HOD of Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Language; Dr. Thupstan Norboo, Editor at the Cultural Academy; and Rigzin Samphel, Retd. IAS, who was also among the distinguished guests. Namgail Angmo of CII Foundation skillfully hosted the program.
The evening also celebrated local talent, with budding poets Khayal Ladakhi (Jigmet Norbu) and Padma Angmo from Ladakh attending the recitation, further enriching the cultural exchange.
