In a written reply, Ministry of Health and Family welfare informed that 1,05,788 Ayushman health cards generated in Ladakh. The reply further informed that 514 cards were generated in 2019-2020 while 58,254 in 2020-21, 16,676 in 2021-22 and 30,344 in 2022 – 23. Moreover, 71 applications were rejected.

PMJAY or Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a government health scheme that covers around 1,400 procedures, pre-hospitalisation expenses up to 3 days, post-hospitalisation expenses up to 15 days, OT expenses, and other related expenses.

The reply further revealed that in the last 4 years 5,595 authorized hospital admissions were recorded. Moreover, as per the reply 9 hospitals are empanelled with PMJAY in Ladakh

As per the terms and conditions of empanelment, hospitals cannot deny treatment to genuine beneficiaries of the scheme. In case of denial of treatment by the empanelled hospital, beneficiaries can lodge grievances on the designated web-based portal or mobile-based application of Central Grievance Redressal Management System (CGRMS).

Alternatively, beneficiaries can reach out to NHA’s National Call Centre through 24×7 helpline 14555 and register their grievances. Such grievances are resolved in an efficient and transparent manner through a publicly accessible IT platform.

As of 4th December 2022, approximately 4.18 crore hospital admissions worth Rs. 48,934.9 crore have been authorized through a network of 26,267 empanelled health care providers including 11,700 private hospitals.

Further, the percentage of hospital admissions authorized in private sector by count and amount are 57% and 67% respectively.
