Leh, August 2: Around 250 youth participated in the nationwide “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India (Viksit Bharat) – Pledge Campaign” organised by MY Bharat, Ladakh at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society.
The programme was graced by Administrative Secretary, Higher Education/Technical Education & Skill Development Department, Bhanu Prabha, as the chief guest. Students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Leh, and members of various MY Bharat Youth Clubs took the anti-drug pledge.
The event featured a virtual address by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, who urged young people to lead the fight against drug abuse and contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat. The campaign was witnessed virtually by nearly one crore participants across the country.
The highlight of the programme was the virtual interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called upon the youth to stay away from drugs, adopt healthy lifestyles, and actively participate in nation-building. He stressed that the country’s progress depends on a healthy, disciplined and empowered young generation.
Participation certificates were distributed to all attendees, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the chief guest, participating institutions, MY Bharat volunteers, Youth Clubs and other stakeholders for making the campaign a success.
