Jammu: The NSS units of SCTMGMGHSS Udhampur and SIKS HSS Boys Udhampur in collaboration with Municipal Corporation, Social Forestry and volunteers of both the institutions organized a plantation drive at different venues of the city under Meri Matti Mera Desh as part of 76th Independence day Celebration in which Principals of SCTM GMGHSS Udhampur, Pawan Slathia and SKIS HSS Boys Udhampur Manoj kumar along with NSS PO’s Praduman and Atul Rasyal with full cooperation of DFO SFS Abinav Ramyotra.
The event commenced with the brief opening ceremony where the dignitaries addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment and the role of tree plantation in combating climate change.
Following the inauguration, the participants took a pledge, then actively engaged in planting the tree saplings of different species at different cites as decided in the meeting before the start of the programme. Then the programme concluded with the National Anthem with zest and Zeal.
The plantation drive was just not an effort to enhance the green cover but also to involve the students, citizens and create awareness among them about the importance of trees in maintaining the ecological balance.
The success of the tree plantation drive would not have been possible without the dedication and the support of the teams involved. The NSS wings of both the schools extends the heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, students and general public for their valuable presence on the occasion.
