Leh: Ladakh Power Development Department (PDD) of UT Ladakh has today initiated a significant campaign to promote the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana among domestic consumers in Leh.

An awareness camp and on-the-spot registration drive commenced at the Main Market, Leh, aiming to educate residents about the benefits of installing solar rooftop panels and facilitating their participation in the central government scheme.

This ten-day initiative, starting April 21, 2025, will provide a platform for households to understand how they can potentially enjoy free electricity through subsidized solar installations.

The PM Surya Ghar scheme offers attractive financial incentives, with combined Central and UT subsidies covering up to 25% of the total cost of solar rooftop systems for domestic consumers.

By adopting this scheme, households can significantly reduce or eliminate their electricity bills and even earn income by selling surplus generated power back to the grid.

The ongoing camp by various vendors in Leh’s main market will offer detailed information regarding the eligibility criteria, the installation process, and the potential savings and benefits associated with the scheme.

The Power Development Department encourages all interested domestic consumers in Leh to visit the awareness camp within the next ten days to learn more about this beneficial initiative.

This campaign represents a crucial step towards promoting sustainable energy adoption and empowering the residents of Leh with a cost-effective and environmentally friendly power solution. Consumer can also apply online via www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in
