PDD, EESL to distribute 20000 Inverter LED Bulbs in Ladakh under BEE Action Plan
LEH: Under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)’s action plan for UT Ladakh, the people of Nubra will get free inverter bulbs. To provide relief to the common man in electricity bills & promote energy efficiency, a large-scale inverter bulbs camp was organised at Nubra.
This camp was organised by EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited), a Govt of India Agency working to promote Energy Efficiency, in coordination with the Power Development Department (PDD) UT of Ladakh. Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Hon’ble Member of Parliament UT of Ladakh launched this scheme in Nubra during ‘Nubra Sports & Adventure Festival’.
Under this scheme Approx. 20000 bulbs would be distributed to around 5000 beneficiaries of 52 villages of Nubra. This would lead to savings of approx. 14.5 lacs electricity units each year.
Moreover, these bulbs have a power backup of 4 hours in the absence of grid/DG-based electricity which would help households & students to improve their day-to-day life.
In the first phase close to 15000 inverter bulbs distributed in Zanskar, in second phase 20000 bulbs will be given free of cost in Nubra & in last phase around 10000 bulbs will be given in Changtang.
MP of Ladakh disclosed that in the last week of November, one more scheme for the benefit of Anganwadis & schools, 2500 nos. induction cook stoves will also be given to Anganwadis, Schools, Colleges & Hostel, etc. Inverter bulbs & induction cook stoves will be distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries under the BEE action plan.
