Leh, February 17, 2026: A high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the upcoming Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026 was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh, Ghulam Mohd. (JKAS), at the VC Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Leh.
The marathon is scheduled to be held from February 24–25, 2026, and has already registered 430 participants, with a similar turnout expected for the high-altitude winter event.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on crucial arrangements including medical facilities, ambulance deployment, PHE services, security measures for tourists and runners, police deployment, homestay accommodations, and overall logistical planning.
Highlighting safety concerns due to extreme weather conditions, the ADC directed the Health Department to conduct mandatory physical check-ups of all participants before they proceed to the venue. He also instructed the Tourism Department to ensure wide publicity of the event through advertisements, banners, and promotional campaigns.
Emphasising seamless inter-departmental coordination, the ADC urged all concerned officers and stakeholders to work in close synergy to ensure comprehensive safety protocols and the smooth conduct of the Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026.
The Frozen Lake Marathon, held on the iconic Pangong Lake, is emerging as a major winter tourism attraction, drawing adventure enthusiasts from across the country while boosting the local economy.
