Padum: In a significant development for connectivity and regional mobility, the Padum-Darcha Road has been officially reopened for vehicular traffic today, April 8, 2025, following its annual winter closure due to heavy snowfall.
The successful reopening of this vital link between Zanskar and Lahaul was made possible through the concerted and tireless efforts of the District Administration Kargil, Zanskar Sub-Division Administration, Lahaul-Spiti Administration, and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
A brief but meaningful ceremony was held to mark the occasion, attended by officers and officials from the BRO and District Police Kargil, celebrating the restoration of this strategic route that plays a crucial role in regional development and emergency access.
Traffic movement along the Padum-Darcha Road will now resume in accordance with the official advisory and remains subject to prevailing weather conditions. The general public is earnestly advised to adhere strictly to the issued guidelines to ensure safety and seamless transit.
This reopening not only marks the return of vital road connectivity but also reflects the unwavering commitment of our administrative and operational agencies in serving the needs of the people, even in the most challenging terrains.
