Leh: On the 4th day of the tour to the Nubra sub-division, Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, EC Ghulam Mehdi and DC Leh Shrikant Suse visited Diskit Monastery, Hunder, Partapur, Skampuk, Skuru, Terchey, Udmaru, Waris, Fastan, Suni Dho, Hundri, and Shukur.
They were accompanied by Councillor Hunder, Kunzang Lotus, BDC Diskit, Stanzin Gyatso, District officers and Sub-divisional officials led by SDM Nubra.
During their visit to Diskit monastery, CEC Gyalson directed LDA & Tourism Department for the early completion of pending work at the under-construction Chamra of the monastery.
Public demands at the said villages included the need for protection bunds on the streams, restoration of roads damaged due to JJM works, upgradation of high school, need for Street lights, solar water lifting systems, Handloom centres, allotment of Command Area lands, filling up of vacancies at school, link roads, restoration of irrigation khuls, completion of community halls, need for medical centres, electricity requirement at Rakuru, drip and sprinkler irrigation, adult education, macadamization of roads, and the need for water reservoir tanks, etc.
Reacting to the issues of Protection bunds, CEC Gyalson emphasised that it’s a significant issue in the entire valley and further directed officials of Irrigation and flood control to prepare a permanent solution of channelization for the major streams. He also assured to resolve all the grievances. In his message to the unemployed youths , CEC stressed on becoming job givers rather than job seekers looking at the huge scope of entrepreneurship in various sectors within the region.
Appreciating the progress of road construction work at Fastan village, CEC Gyalson and all the other dignitaries felicitated the ground workers and lauded the efforts of all the stakeholders involved in the project. He further hoped to see the project completed soon.
CEC Gyalson also announced that he would provide a medical ambulance to be used for the villages of Hundri, Udmaru and Shukur.
