Nubra Valley, Ladakh: District President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nubra and former Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Sandup chaired a detailed review meeting with officials of the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) to assess the progress of hydel power projects across Nubra Valley.
Emphasizing the importance of reliable electricity for remote villages, Sandup called for the early commissioning and uninterrupted supply of power from the ongoing hydel projects. He reviewed the project-wise status and raised concerns regarding operational challenges, particularly the seasonal dependency on water discharge in mountain streams.
The Project Director, LREDA, informed that most hydel projects in Nubra operate during the summer months when sufficient water flow is available.

Chulunka Hydel Project: Currently operational.

Henachey, Chamshen and Turtuk Hydel Projects: Expected to commence operations in April, subject to adequate water discharge.

Tsati and Bogdang Hydel Projects: Presently under construction.
Sandup urged Project Manager Shri Iftikar Ahmed to ensure that all projects become operational without delay once water discharge improves, so that residents receive timely electricity supply.
The Project Director assured that all necessary efforts are being made to ensure the smooth functioning of hydel projects and to provide reliable 24×7 power supply in Nubra Valley during the operational season.
The meeting was attended by the Project Director and Junior Engineer of LREDA, Nambardar Khemi Halqa, along with representatives from Tongsed, Henachey, Nyungted and Khemi villages.
