Leh: The Deputy Commissioner Leh Srikanat Balasaheb Suse has ordered complete restriction on entry of heavy vehicles in Leh city from 8AM to 9PM.
This order, also applicable to military and paramilitary vehicles, has been issued in view of frequent traffic jams in Leh city.
An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Suse said the following
“Whereas, heavy traffic jams are being observed at multiple locations in Leh city area due to movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) simultaneously with other vehicles during the day time.
Therefore, in view of the above, and in order to ensure effective traffic management within Leh city area, I Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS, District Magistrate Leh, in exercise of the power conferred upon me under section 144 of CrPC, hereby order that:
“Movement of any type of Heavy Motor Vehicle, including Army/ Paramilitary forces in the Municipal Limit of Leh city shall not be allowed between 8 AM to 10 PM”
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till further order.”
