Leh: The National Institute of Sowa Rigpa, Leh (NISR) is participating in the four-day National Arogya Mela 2026 being held at Shegaon in Buldhana district of Maharashtra from 25.02.2026 to 28.02.2026.
The prestigious event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in the presence of Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Acharya Devvrat, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (I/C) AYUSH and MoS Health & Family Welfare, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, along with other distinguished Ministers of the Maharashtra Government and dignitaries.
In her inaugural address, President Droupadi Murmu made a special mention of the Sowa-Rigpa system of medicine and the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa, Leh. Her remarks were a proud and encouraging moment for the Institute and a significant recognition of the traditional Himalayan medical system at the national level.
Following the inauguration, the Hon’ble President and other dignitaries visited various exhibition stalls, including that of NISR Leh. The Institute showcased its academic excellence, research advancements, and healthcare services for the general public. The stall attracted keen interest and appreciation from participants, delegates, and visitors.
NISR’s participation marks another significant milestone in promoting the Sowa-Rigpa system of medicine on a national platform. During the mela, Amchi physicians provided diagnosis through traditional methods of observation, palpation, and questioning, and distributed free medicines to patients.
The representatives from NISR Leh at the event include Dr. Tsering Norzom, Dr. Lotus Otzer, Shri Rinchen Tundup, and Mrs. Tsetan Angmo.
