Kargil: A District Election Officer (DEO)-level training under the National Training Programme for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) was held today at the Conference Hall, Baroo, for officers from Drass and Taisuru tehsils. The training aimed to enhance preparedness ahead of the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in Kargil district.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Rakesh Kumar (IAS), Tehsildar Taisuru Salim, Election Officer Zakir Hussain, State Level Master Trainer (SLMT) Mohd Amin, trainers Zakir Hussain Karbalie and Sajad Hussain, along with supervisors and BLOs from the two blocks. This was the third day of the ongoing BLO training, which is scheduled to continue until July 16 to cover all tehsils of the district.
In his address, DC Rakesh Kumar emphasised the importance of completing the Special Intensive Revision process with accuracy and urgency. He urged BLOs to work diligently and expressed his goal of making Kargil the first district in the region to complete the revision exercise successfully.
The training comprised three informative sessions. SLMT Mohd Amin covered the objectives and procedures of the revision process, responsibilities of BLOs, enumeration form handling, draft roll publication, and relevant constitutional guidelines. Zakir Hussain Karbalie focused on the use of mobile applications and technology tools to enhance field-level efficiency. In the final session, Sajad Hussain presented a detailed overview of the Voter Helpline App and its applications in electoral assistance and public service.
To conclude the training, participants were given test papers to assess their grasp of the material. Certificates were distributed to all BLOs and supervisors in recognition of their active engagement and contribution.
This training marks a significant step toward ensuring a transparent, efficient, and error-free electoral revision process in Kargil district.
