National Safety Week concludes at Kargil
Kargil: National Safety Week with the theme “Our Aim-Zero Harm”, organized by Department of Labour, LAHDC, Kargil, concluded Friday at Conference Hall, Kargil.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Wani was the chief guest, besides Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mohammad Ali, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kargil, Razia Khatoon, General Manager DIC, Iftikhar Naseem, President Labour Union Shamim Kacho, representatives of various departments, workers and concerned officers were present during the event.
Addressing the event, ADC Kargil said the National Safety Week was aimed to impart awareness to the stakeholders like employees and employers to adopt necessary safety measures at work and requested them to ensure their safety while doing their respective works.
Earlier, ALC Razia Khatoon presented the welcome address and gave a presentation on the importance of National Safety Week. She talked at length about the significance of the event and informed about various modules in order to ensure the security of workers.
The ALC reiterated that aim of the week-long event was to sensitize the employees and employers about how to minimize occupational hazards.
CMO Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir spoke at length about the occupational hazards related to various works and reduction of the same. The works he talked about included health, electricity, noise, vibration, laboratories, soil, psychological hazards etc. The CMO urged the employees to ensure personal protective equipment while working.
General Manager DIC, Iftikhar Naseem informed the gathering about various laws related to labour rights and asserted on adherence and acknowledgment of law at workspaces.
DFO Kargil, Mohammad Ali spoke about the protection of the environment while working. He asserted labourers must always ensure protection. Later, the winners of the essay competition held at Government Degree College Kargil were felicitated by the dignitaries.
At the conclusion of the event, all the officers and officials took the safety pledge of the Nation Safety Day 2023.
