Shargole: In Ladakh, the ICDS Project Shargole organized the National Girl Child Day at Government High School Shargole on Wednesday.
CDPO Farida Batool presided over the event, commencing with a traditional Khatak presentation by resource persons.
Different speakers highlighted girls’ rights enshrined in the Indian constitution, stressing the importance of National Girl Child Day and also addressed the need to eradicate social taboos and encouraged reporting instances of domestic violence to their office for assistance.
CDPO Shargole Farida Batool said that ICDS Project Shargole is dedicated to community empowerment and gender equality, remains at the forefront of fostering positive change. She emphasized the evolving role of women in shaping policies, despite societal norms that undervalue the significance of the girl child.
The event concluded with the distribution of light refreshments and sanitary pads among the participants.
The celebrations underscored the collective commitment to creating a more inclusive and progressive society, echoing the theme of empowerment for the girl child.
