Leh: Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, was called on by a delegation of executive members from the Muslim religious community to discuss the establishment of facilities to support Haj pilgrims in Ladakh.
The delegation was led by Haji Nazir Ahmed, a member of the Haj Committee, and included Haji Shamsher Ali, Executive Member of Anjuman Noorbaksh; Anayat Ali, Naib Imam of Jama Masjid Leh; and Amjad Hussain Zubdavi, former member of Anjuman Imamia Leh.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed their gratitude for the recent establishment of the Haj Committee in Ladakh following the region’s elevation to Union Territory status. They highlighted a longstanding community request for a dedicated Haj House in Leh, along with a branch office of the Haj Committee, to streamline administrative processes and better facilitate the Haj pilgrimage for the Muslim population of Ladakh.
They noted that such infrastructure would greatly benefit pilgrims by providing guidance, support, and necessary services locally, reducing logistical challenges and travel-related difficulties for the community.
Responding to the delegation, CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson acknowledged the importance of the request and assured the members that the matter would be discussed with the concerned authorities. He emphasized that the administration is committed to addressing the needs of all religious communities in Ladakh and enhancing facilities that promote ease of religious observance.
The meeting reflected the ongoing engagement between the LAHDC Leh administration and local communities to ensure inclusive development and support for cultural and religious initiatives in the region.
