The staging area for the exercise was established at Khalsar where all necessary arrangements were set up. An Emergency Control Room was also set up at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office which served as the central hub for coordination, communication, and monitoring of the drill.
As part of the activation of the Incident Response System key officials assumed their designated roles. SDM Nubra Mr. Mukul Beniwal acted as the Incident Commander while Tehsildar Diskit Tufail Iqbal and Tehsildar Sumoor Tashi Chhostak served as Deputy Incident Commanders and other designated officers from various departments carried out their responsibilities as per the Incident Response Plan.
In addition, Army personnel , GREF teams and community members also actively participated in the exercise highlighting the crucial role.
During the mock drill affected persons were rescued and provided immediate first-aid at the site. Those with minor injuries were treated on the spot, while seriously injured individuals were stabilized and shifted to nearby hospitals for further medical care. At the same time stranded persons were safely evacuated from the simulated affected area to designated safe zones ensuring their security and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion SDM Nubra (Incident Commander) appreciated the participants. He further noted that while the exercise was conducted smoothly certain gaps were observed in communications and instructed every official must remain well-prepared to discharge their designated responsibilities. He also urged the general public to stay vigilant and adopt safety measures during natural calamities as community awareness and timely action play a key role in minimizing loss of life and property.
