Leh : The Singay Tsangspo Tsangday Lasgul (Mission Clean River Indus) campaign was launched in Kharu Sub Division today, marking a major push for environmental conservation in Ladakh.
The drive began at Kharu market chowk with a pledge to protect the sacred Indus River, led by BDO Kharu.
Villagers, Numbardars, department heads, and personnel from the Indian Army’s Station Headquarters, 51 RCC, and 111 RCC joined the effort. The campaign, which covered the Indus River, adjoining areas, markets, and all 15 villages in Kharu Sub Division, is part of a district-wide initiative.
Councillor Rigzin Tsering of Sakti constituency called on residents to stay committed to creating a cleaner and healthier environment. August 12 has been declared Safai Andolan Day across Ladakh for Indus River conservation.
