Mishra, First Lady visit Pashmina Processing, Dehairing Plant in Industrial Area

Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and the First Lady, Neelam Mishra, visited the Pashmina Processing and Dehairing Plant in the Industrial Area.

The LG visited the Willing, Scouring and Drying Section and also inspected the dehairing and wool carding machine.

President of All Changthang Pashmina Growers Co-operative Marketing Society (ACPGCMS), Dorjay Stanzin, apprised the LG of the pashmina dehairing machine procured from China after the visit of a team comprising officials from the Government of India who had identified the machine.

He informed that the contractor was supposed to send technicians to install the machine in Leh but these technicians are facing visa issues due to which they are unable to visit Leh. He also informed that the dehairing plant will save a lot of time, will require less manpower and ensure good quality pashmina wool.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee and other officials of the All Changthang Pashmina Growers Co-operative Marketing Society requested the LG for his intervention in the issuance of visas for the technicians. They also requested for the beautification/cleanliness of the Pashmina Processing and Dehairing Plant.

The LG assured to provide all possible assistance and instructed the concerned officials to write to the Minister of External Affairs of the Government of India, Dr S Jaishankar, to seek his assistance in this regard so that the technicians can install the machine at the earliest and the concerned stakeholders and self-help groups (SHGs) can reap its benefits.

LG highlighted the need to maintain the cleanliness of the Pashmina Processing and Dehairing Plant, which at present is in a very bad state, along with the maintenance of the equipment/machine.

He instructed the concerned officials to share the plan to conduct a concerted cleanliness drive in the entire Industrial Area at the earliest.

EC LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillor, Kungyam, Thinless Nurboo; Councillor, Nyoma, Ishey Spalzang; Councillor, Korzok, Karma Namdak; Nominated Councillor, Ven Konchok Tsephel; President, ACPGCMS, Dorjay Stanzin; Director, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, Dr Mohammad Iqbal and other concerned officials were present during the LG’s visit.
