Members of FPF watchers, resident of Turtuk call on Mishra
Leh: A delegation comprising representatives of Forest Protection Force (FPF) Watchers from Leh and Kargil led by Tashi Punchok called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Thursday.
Punchok informed the LG about their appointment as watchers in FPF in 1997 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He also informed that they opted for UT Ladakh during the apportionment of manpower between UT J&K and UT Ladakh. He further informed about the issue faced by them due to the lack of FPF in Ladakh.
Punchok informed that they are not engaged as regular Forest Guard/Wildlife Guard and the complications arising due to the situation despite some of them about to retire from their service. He requested for permanent absorption of FPF to posts of Forest Guard/Wildlife Guard. The LG assured to look into the matter.
Rustom Ali, a resident of Turtuk, called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shabbir, was present in the meeting.
Rustom informed the LG about the issue arising due to his ancestral land which was illegally captured by another person. He also informed that the ongoing construction on his ancestral land was halted and damaged by the accused, who is now illegally constructing a commercial unit on his land.
Rustom requested for LG’s intervention in stopping the illegal construction on his ancestral land and returning it to him from the accused.
The LG instructed ACR Shabbir to look into the matter and take necessary measures to resolve the problem.
