Members of Chamber of Industries Leh, youth associations call on LG Mishra

Leh: A delegation comprising members of the Chamber of Industries, Leh, led by its President, Rinchen Namgial, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas. Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar was present in the meeting.

Rinchen informed LG about the issue faced by the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) unit holders from Ladakh due to the tendering system of government agencies for the execution of different civil works and fabrication works which was earlier carried out by SICOP before the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He also raised the issue faced by unit holders who have availed loans from banks for their enterprises. He further raised issues such as the non-availability of raw materials, especially in the winters; the need to provide subsidies on electricity tariff for the MSME unit holders; the need for a proper industrial and domestic waste disposal management system inside the Industrial Estate; the need to appoint gatekeepers for the Industrial Estate; the need to look into the issue of vacant land at Industrial Estate using for dumping industrial waste, etc.

The LG instructed the concerned officials to take necessary measures if the issues raised by the MSME unit holders are genuine.

A delegation comprising the Youth Association of Chemday, Sakti and Kharu called on the LG at Raj Niwas.

The delegates raised several issues, including the need for the construction of a mini-stadium for the youth of Kharu, Chemday and Sakti villages; the need to establish public libraries in the Govt High Schools; the need for the construction of ice hockey rinks in the said villages; the need for upgradation of Govt Middle School Chemday to Govt High School; the need to improve the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission works in Chemday; the need to take necessary measures to promote sustainable tourism opportunities in Kharu block; the need for a public meeting ground near 51 RCC, etc. They also raised the need to expedite the trial against the accused involved in the alleged rape and attempted murder of a minor girl from Ladakh.

The LG assured to look into the matter.
